Very nice review. Scathing, but well written. I see this was posted almost 2 years ago and was wondering if Monks was any different today. I stopped by in January and the crowd seemed relaxed and behaved. My group was asked about putting on a murder mystery at Monks and I just hope we can attract an appreciative crowd with some semblance of an attention span.

Sounds like a blast PD..

Confused about this last comment: "I’d really be curious to see what this wine would do with more time in the decanter. Will the bell pepper blow off? Time will tell"

Did you leave some in the decanter for later? Or you mean, you will try another bottle and decant longer next time?

I love the vegital notes that come with the best reds. Are you saying they are a bit much? Or that you are worried that over time they may blow off?

Sure sounds like a winner!

Surprised there is no mention of Chardonnay. Or could someone interest you in a Sangiovese or a fine Nebbiolo?

I've always loved Leonetti, but I can't stand that herbaceous nose that most New World Merlots and Cabernet Sauvignon's get. Why does old Bordeaux smell so grand, while Cali and Washington reds reek?

And wtf is up with you tasting a lot of old Leonetti's? I am sooooo jealous!
